About Us
Scalextric4Schools, designed with Onshape, is a national STEM design and engineering challenge that brings the excitement of Scalextric racing into the classroom. Students design, make, and race their own model cars using industry-standard tools such as Onshape CAD, 3D printing, and CNC manufacturing developing real-world design, engineering, and teamwork skills along the way.
Working in partnership with Hornby and Scalextric, and proudly supported by our title sponsor Onshape, along with AWS, PDSVISION, Boxford, Develop3D, and KeyShot, we inspire young people to explore careers in product design, engineering, and digital manufacturing through hands-on creativity and competition.

Our Story

Scalextric4Schools began life as a pioneering STEM initiative — connecting the thrill of racing with the creativity of design and technology education. After a period of dormancy, it was revived and reimagined by Simon Hooker, who saw the potential to bring it back for a new generation of digital designers and engineers.
With Onshape as title sponsor and key support from industry partners, Scalextric4Schools has been redesigned for the modern classroom. Cloud-based CAD, accessible 3D printing, and a passion for innovation have made it more relevant than ever.
Today, Scalextric4Schools continues to inspire the next generation of designers, engineers, and problem-solvers proving that learning can be fast, fun, and full of possibility.
