Scrutineering

All cars will be checked during the event to make sure they meet the competition requirements.

To help speed up scrutineering on the day, teams will be asked to submit engineering drawings of their car before the event. These drawings will help the scrutineering team understand the design, key dimensions and construction of each car before race day.

During the event, the scrutineering team will circulate around the pit areas throughout the session. They may check cars, speak to teams and ask questions where needed.

Scrutineering helps ensure that cars are safe, fair and suitable for racing on the Scalextric track.

Cars may be checked for:

  • overall size and dimensions

  • ground clearance

  • wheel and tyre suitability

  • guide blade position and movement

  • motor and chassis component use

  • magnet position

  • safe construction

  • track compatibility

  • ability to race without damaging the track

  • ability to complete a race reliably

Cars that do not meet the requirements may receive a time penalty or may need to be adjusted before racing.

Teams should make sure their car is complete, safe to handle and ready to race.
